We are excited to offer three different choir levels for singers in 1st - 12th grade. All of our programming will be 100% virtual for the 2020-2021 season. We are committed to providing choristers with a quality, meaningful, and safe choral experience no matter how we need to adapt!
This choir is perfect for our youngest singers who are excited to sing! Musical skills are taught in a playful yet structured atmosphere. Students play musical games, participate in vocal exploration, and sing simple songs as they develop new musical skills.
Traditionally, Primary Choir has only been offered to our Des Moines Metro families. Since we are 100% virtual, all children are invited to participate. If you are in an outreach community (Pella or Newton) please use the appropriate registration/tuition guide.
Singers in 3rd - 6th grade can look forward to joining one of our many Children’s Chorus sites throughout Pella, Newton, the Des Moines metro as well as those participating in 21st CCLC and community partner locations. These students learn the fundamentals of vocal technique, singing in parts, and other skills that will prepare them for the performances. Children rehearse each week at their site and come together to raise their 100+ voices at our annual concerts.
Chorale is our most advanced ensemble for singers in 6th - 12th grade but we are happy to welcome the most novice singers. Many of these choristers have been in our Children’s Chorus and are ready to perform more challenging pieces of music from all styles and periods. In past years, Chorale has incorporated solos, African drumming and collaboration with other performers such as the Barn Owl Band. They perform at all IYC concerts.
