Tuition

      • Annual $50.00 ($25.00/semester), non-refundable music activity fee must accompany all registrations.
      • A 25% sibling discount is available to families with more than one child participating. The discount is given to child(ren) in the lowest level choir(s).
      • Returning choristers from spring 2016, 2015 or 2014, who did not sing with us fall 2016, are welcome to receive a 10% discount on their spring 2017 tuition.

The music activity fee of $50 for the 2016-2017 season covers the music, a portion of the cost for paying conductors, rehearsal locations, and performance venues. The tuition is similar to paying for private voice lessons and is far less than many other activities.

Scholarships

Each year Iowa Youth Chorus awards scholarships to youth choir applicants. To qualify for a tuition scholarship parent or legal guardian must submit the IYC Scholarship Application form.

Tuition Scholarships

IYC is pleased to offer tuition assistance for families who demonstrate financial need. Other factors taken into consideration are size of household, number of family members enrolled in choir, and distance travelled to rehearsal. Please print the IYC Scholarship Application form and mail it with requested documentation to the address provided on the form. The IYC expresses its gratitude to the Principal Financial Group Foundation, West Bancorp, Community State Bank, City State Bank, and Kreg Tool for providing much of the funding for our scholarship program.

Tuition Scholarships may be used to pay tuition only and do not cover additional fees, uniforms and tours.

The process to apply is simple and for some you can receive up to 95% off the cost!

Just like choosing to be in a sport, another fine arts program, special classes through a community education program like Parks and Recreation, a community program like the Y, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, or the Boys & Girls Club, there is a small music activity fee to participate. Iowa Youth Chorus is a non-profit organization and we constantly apply for grants. We ask individuals to donate and hold special events to cover the costs of operating Iowa Youth Chorus.

Tour Scholarships

The IYC Parent’s Organization sponsors tour scholarships for students planning to tour with their choir. The fund for this scholarship is generated from student fundraising activities throughout the year. To be eligible for a tour scholarship, a chorister must participate in fundraising activities.

To join the wait list for spring 2017, contact the Iowa Youth Chorus office. New classes will start in March or April 2017.

Refunds

Requests for refunds must be made one week prior to the first class meeting. You will receive a refund of your tuition minus a $20.00 processing fee. After the first class meeting a credit toward a future class will be given, minus a $20.00 processing fee. There are no refunds for materials that have been ordered.

Family Packets and Sibling Kits

The family packets are required. These materials allow the activities first experienced in class to continue at home. In this way, music making truly becomes a family activity that fosters family bonding and fun and helps your child develop musically. Our sibling kits include all materials but the CD’s and are designed for families with 2 children in the same class or for families that previously purchased a family packet.
