2020 - 2021 Virtual Season
Chorale is our most advanced ensemble for 6th - 12th grade students, but we are happy to welcome the most novice singers. Many of these choristers have been in our Children’s Chorus and are ready to perform more challenging pieces of music from all styles and periods. In past years, Chorale has incorporated solos, african drumming and collaboration with other performers such as The Barn Owl Band. They perform at all IYC concerts.

We are offering Virtual programming for our 2020-2021 season. Each week Chorale singers would watch a 30-minute recorded lesson by their conductor. They are able to watch this lesson when it is convenient for them. Singers would attend a 30-minute zoom meeting to rehearse together. Each recorded lesson would have warm-ups, musical concepts and songs to focus on for the week. Each Zoom meeting would consist of an ice breaking question, an engaging activity and singing the repertoire for the semester. Instructional videos and Zoom links will be accessible in the “MY IYC” section on our website once your registration is processed. In addition, the Chorale singers would be asked to do approximately 20 - 30 minutes of personal recording each week. Through a variety of apps and software, singers would be able to collaborate with other choristers. Mr.Shutt will be providing individual feedback to each chorister to ensure growth and a personal connection. Recordings will be edited and used for our virtual concerts.
